About us

Built from lived experience.

DivorceCompanion was built by people who have been through it, from two very different angles.

DivorceCompanion is an assisted DIY divorce platform for people navigating divorce and financial settlement in England and Wales.

It provides general information, process guidance and digital document-preparation tools. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

Why we built this

Between us, we experienced divorce from two completely different angles. One contested, prolonged, and far more expensive than it should have been, costing over £50,000. One amicable, both parties agreed, but still confused about the process and still spending money just to understand what came next, costing around £2,000.

In both cases, money was wasted not on legal expertise, but on simply understanding the process. Paying solicitors to explain basic steps. Not knowing that divorce and financial settlement are two completely separate legal processes with their own forms and deadlines. Arriving at appointments unprepared.

That knowledge should not be locked behind £200-£350/hour consultations. So we built DivorceCompanion, to give people the process clarity upfront, free, so every pound they spend on professional help goes further.

What we are, and what we are not

We are not solicitors. DivorceCompanion does not provide legal advice, but we do help you prepare documents, including an Legally worded Draft Consent Order. We are a guidance and document-preparation tool; nothing more, nothing less.

What we do is give you a clear, honest picture of the process: the stages, the forms, the timing, and what to prepare, so that when you do speak to a professional, you are using that time well.

The Amicable Bundle includes an AI-assisted Draft Consent Order Online. Based on the information you provide, the platform prepares a Draft Consent Order together with an AI-assisted review and Court Readiness Score to help identify areas that may benefit from further refinement before submission. If the court requests changes to the Draft Consent Order, you can update and regenerate it within DivorceCompanion at no additional cost. DivorceCompanion does not provide legal advice and cannot guarantee that a Draft Consent Order will be approved by the court. Approval is always at the court's discretion and depends on the circumstances of each case.

Jurisdiction

DivorceCompanion covers England and Wales only. It is built around the HMCTS divorce and financial proceedings process. It does not cover Scotland, Northern Ireland, or international divorce proceedings.
